Fourteen days and counting.  Let's all remember to be flexible and kind as we go through these busy times.

Important Items to Know:

Literacy PD - From Aimee,  all K-6 teachers district wide need to collect a sample from the December testing window of the writing about reading portion. Please submit your samples to your principals by Jan. 3.  Let me know if you have questions!

Afterschool Programs - Only 1 staff response for this for Dec., so we moved it to Jan.  During the month of Jan.., we will be offering after-school programming from 2:45 - 4:45 Wed. afternoons - Jan. 11, 18, 25.  .   Thoughts about courses are "Kid Chef," "Reading Rainbow," "Math Mania," "Chess Champs," "Outdoor Potpourri."  If you have another option you'd love to offer, please talk to me about it.  There will be snack provided, a strong academic them, but in a project/inquiry based setting.  Please let Cathy if you'd like to earn some "extra" money and participate in this program.

What to Do? - I recognize that this staff has had to act independently over the years. Since I am here now, I would appreciate the opportunity to review any letters or documents being sent home. I would also encourage you to call me if you are not sure about what action to take.....I take calls even on my days "off." (Just ask Libbet - we speak frequently on those days.) When in doubt, wait, please. Just because it's been done in the past does not mean it is the most effective action to take. Please see me if you have any concerns. I am here to support you. Thank you for your respect and consideration.

Dear Dedicated Staff, It's hard to believe this is the last staff blog  of  the school year.  Thank you for taking the time  to read  it even though you are crazy busy with end of year items.   I want to commend those of you who are ALWAYS professional and focused on students, and kind and courteous to your colleagues and myself.  We all have an exhausting job, but it's time for a well deserved rest.   Change is always a challenge.  I applaud those of you who accept and welcome change with a  positive  attitude and as an opportunity for growth.  I hope you have a rejuvenating summer.  I'd love to have our returning staff over to my home for a cook-out in late August.   I'll be sending out an e-mail to those of you who check it.  I'll be in and out throughout the summer, so don't  hesitate  to text me if you have any questions.   We wish Beth Ann, Libbet, Greg, and Pam the best as they begin their next leg of life's journey!  You will be missed!

Dear Hardworking  Staff, KUDOS to STAFF Who "Stepped Up":   Paitra for cooking corn muffins for the Community forum. Pam and her son for helping provide childcare. Kathi F., Lisa K. for attending Thurs. night's presentation. Patty Co. & Lisa K. for participating in Web of Life!   Important Items to Know : WCUD Board Meeting   - The WCUD Board will be meeting here Mon., Oct. 15, 2018.  The building will be open for tours by the Board.  Teachers are encouraged to have their room open and ready for a tour.  Staff are welcome to attend but it is not required.   Blog Write-Ups  -  Please  send me a short blurb for the blog outlining your units and anything that you might need for upcoming projects.  Thanks!  Fire Prevention Presentation  - The Reading Fire Dept. will be  here  Tues., Nov. 16, to make a presentation to classes.  PK-2 will be from 8 - 8:40 AM.  Gr. 3-6 will be from 8:45 - 9:15 AM.  The presentation will occur outside an

Dear Dynamic Staff, I was at my UVM library class this weekend and am reminded how blessed I am to work in such a small but caring school.  The book that we're currently reading is called Best Schools by Thomas Armstrong, and it is what our school culture resonates naturally.  KUDOS to STAFF Who "Stepped Up":   Heather for "filling in the holes" whenever we're shorthanded!
