RES PRINCIPAL'S BLOG TO STAFF - Sun., April 29, 2018

Dear Dedicated RES Staff,

It's been a tough week for many, but the amazing professionals at RES can handle it!  I'm honored to work with such a dedicated group of people!  

KUDOS to STAFF Who "Stepped Up":  

• Sherry for being the best admin. asst. RES could ever ask for!
• Joan for helping out in Kindergarten on Friday while Pam was out.
• Hilder and Pam for coming in to help with the Soup Supper!

Important Items to Know:

Best Wishes - Sadly Rose Grenier, our amazing PE teacher, has advised that she will not be returning in the 2018-19 school year.  We wish Rose nothing but the best.  Our PE program has been revitalized due to her hard work and dedication.   The SU will be advertising the position as hiring procedures have changed with the unified district.  

Testing - SBAC Testing begins this week for Gr. 3-6. Here is the schedule.   PLEASE have a discussion with your students about quiet transitions in the hallways.  Some students will be testing in the Special Ed. room, so please remind them to be quiet in the hallway outside that area as they transition to the bathroom.

Swimming - The swimming schedule attached reflects some changes that had to occur due to scheduling conflicts.  

Music Concert - This week is the RES Music Concert at 6 PM.  Ms. Morton has asked that students be there at 5:45 PM.  On Friday, Ms. Ledoux will be here practicing for her spring concert which is Sunday.  The cafeteria will stay set up and we will have class on the cafeteria tables Friday during tech time.

After School Programs - We would like to offer after school through the end of the year.  Please let Cathy know if you can work 1 day a week after school through the end of the year.  One reason we are losing students because we don't have an after school program - let's try and make it work!

2018-19 Configuration - The WCUD Board voted to leave Gr. 6 students here next school year, but we lost a teacher.  Ms. Denoya will be going to WES next year.  We will miss her, but know that WES will be closer to her home and we will continue to see her at our multiple inservice meetings.  As it stands now, based on current enrollment, we will have a K/1, 2/3, and 4/5/6.  We will revisit this in June after enrollment and student needs are solidified.  In the meantime, let's focus on the students currently in our classrooms and model for them what it's like to "live in the moment."
