RES PRINCIPAL'S BLOG TO STAFF - Sun., March 18, 2018
Dear Talented RES Staff,
Hope we've all caught up from Daylight Savings Time and 2 hr. delays! I recently saw this image and wanted to share it with each of you. At any given moment a child is reaching for all of these things and trying to avoid the others. Our job is to help "belay" and support them in your classrooms daily. As professionals, you all have the ability to do that and I commend you for your efforts!
Field Trip Reminders - Anytime you are proposing a field trip, please run it by the Administrator first. Please bring your completed "field trip permission slip" and "bus request" if needed to me. Please schedule a time with Sherry and I'll do my best to make it happen as soon as possible. Swimming lessons should have a permission slip with all the dates listed on one form.
Safety Drills - The State has an intense focus on school safety due to the recent events. Officer Vitelli met with me on Friday and he will be at our staff meeting on April 2 to review appropriate actions that we should take. Please review the posters in your room with your students so they know what to expect during these drills.

KUDOS to STAFF Who "Stepped Up":
- Ms. Tofferi for being flexible about her workspace!
- Ms. Liebley for coming in on a 2 hr. delay day to make our specials schedule work so teachers could have planning!
- Ms. Morton for her efforts with RES band students participating in the WCSU Band Showcase!
Important Items to Know:
In My Absence - I am unavoidably away for a few days on personal business (Mon., Wed., and Thurs.) Pam B. will be the point person in my absence for any administrative issues. If the issue/concern can wait until Friday, then please send me an e-mail. I will be able to check e-mail and will respond within 24 hours. Most of the time I can be reached by phone. Jared has assured me he will be in to shovel and salt every morning in my absence. Jean will also be in Monday to help cover the office.
With a building full of calm, caring professionals the principal can be away and not worry. I'm blessed to work with such professionals and am grateful to each of you for the heart and soul you put into your job everyday.
Bullying Puppets in Education Field Trip - Our students have a wonderful field trip for our students on Wed., March 21 which was rescheduled from December. We will participate as follows (unless there is a 2 hr. delay and then it will be rescheduled again):
- K/2 - 8 -9 AM Bully Prevention & Feelings (Leave at 7:45 AM)
- Gr. 5/6 - 9:05 AM - 10:15 AM - Bully Prevention Workshop (Leave at 8:45 AM)
- Gr. 3/4 10:20 - 11:20 AM - Bully Prevention & Learning Differences (Leave at 10:15 AM) Gr. 3/4 will have recess when they return.
All teachers will attend with their classes and you are welcome to invite parents to join you. Bus transportation is provided. Please send home the puppets in education letter (that Sherri will provide) to families on Monday. There are questions and surveys for classrooms after the performance.
Student Supports - In order to support two students who need alternative learning environments and strategies, we have modified schedules and locations for them. A 4th grader is in M-Thurs. with Ms. Curran in her room from 8-10 AM. A 2nd grader is in the Guidance office this week Tues., Thurs., and Fri.
Front Door - Please check the exterior door before you use your key. When I enter I usually "unlock" the door for everyone to make it easier for folks to come in. If someone uses the key after it has been unlocked, they re-lock it.
