PRINCIPAL'S BLOG TO STAFF - Sun., Nov. 6, 2016

Dear Dedicated and Hardworking Staff,

 It's a busy week - parent conferences, the AOE team visits Tues. and Wed., Election day, picture day on Thursday - whew - you earned MORE than a  Friday off!  Sincere thanks for all you do!

KUDOS to STAFF Who "Stepped Up":  
  • Kathi, Pam, and Jenn who put in all the extra efforts to do sub plans for two days of professional development with a smile on their face.
  • Jenn for all her hard work organizing the field trip!
Important Items to Know:

Copier Issues - The copier is working. There is a new copier in the office for limited color copies until the new ones comes in.

Discipline Concerns - For consistency, please put all discipline sheets into Cathy's box, and do not send them home. I am available 24/7 and check in with the office frequently when I am not here. I am working one revising the forms and will provide you the drafts to consider.

 Picture Money Envelopes - Please turn in all picture money envelopes to Libbet. Libbet will keep them and give them to the picture company on Thursday.

Parent Conferences - PLEASE provide a Google Doc with your conference schedule and share it with Libbet and I so we know who's coming in when and if they happen.

AGAIN, I am happy to support you in anyway to make sure your days are not too long. Please let me know if you want me to join you in any of them. I am happy to get a sub so you can come in "late" or I will be happy to do a tech lesson with your students so you can meet with parents during the late afternoon.

Literacy PD - AT RES Nov. 17 -Teacher expectations - please plan ahead:
  • Collect a class set of Writing about Reading response to planning.  
  • Co-plan with Aimee a Mini-Lesson.  
  • Teach the lesson.  Debrief about what was found 
  • Please read the "November Focal Area for Literacy" that was placed in your mailboxes.

Dear Tireless RES Staff, It is so inspiring to watch our staff prepare our students for the challenges of a global world.  I will be meeting with the rest of you this week to discuss your walkthroughs and celebrate the outstanding teaching that's going on!   KUDOS to STAFF Who "Stepped Up":   Heather and Lisa who helped run to parents' houses to notify them that there was no school on Monday due to power loss! Dear Dynamic Staff, I was at my UVM library class this weekend and am reminded how blessed I am to work in such a small but caring school.  The book that we're currently reading is called Best Schools by Thomas Armstrong, and it is what our school culture resonates naturally.  KUDOS to STAFF Who "Stepped Up":   Heather for "filling in the holes" whenever we're shorthanded! Sherry for subbing in K when we were short a sub!   Pam S. for helping with lunch duties w/the skiers on Fridays! Dear Dedicated and Hardworking Staff, The rain was refreshing and its certainly cooled off!   Hope you had some down time for you! KUDOS to STAFF Who "Stepped Up":   Kathi for all her work organizing the swimming for Pre-K! Lisa K. for all her work with the Lavender Sachets & Pumpkins! All of you who helped out with the Leaf Peeper's Breakfast! Important Items to Know : Parent Conferences - I am so surprised that there is no "day" for conferences here at the SU.
