RES PRINCIPAL'S BLOG TO STAFF - Sun., Feb. 5, 2017

Dear Tireless Staff,

 We've got a busy week this week and next, but then you'll have a nice week to recharge!  Lots happening in next 10 days - please take care of yourself - lots of germs in our world right now!

Important Items to Know:

1st Aid/CPR  Class - We will seven openings for an Adult/Pediatric 1st Aid/CPR class being taught here at Reading Elem. this Thurs., Feb. 9, and next Thurs., Feb. 16, from 3:30 - 7:30 PM.  We will provide light snacks during the break and there is no cost to you.  Please let Libbet know if you're available to attend this class.  

 EPIC Books - Free books for teachers - please check out e-mail Pam Selen forwarded to you on Friday.

Staff Meeting - Please bring your computers on Monday to the Staff Meeting.

Acts of Kindness Thoughts - The tradition includes two weeks of posting acts of kindness we spot around the school on cut-out hearts in the lobby. We have also decorated valentine cookies and delivered them around town:  mostly on foot, but some by driving to people who are shut-ins during the winter. The Ks and PKs have done the in-town spots such as the library, town hall, store, and greenhouse as well as in-town houses.    When we were not able to get kids out in cars, Lisa and Libbet made deliveries on the weekend which was often very sweet because they would end up having tea and chatting with people.   Lisa often has students make valentines in art class to deliver with the cookies. We could do more, we could do less..  We will discuss this at the Staff Meeting.   Should we take  Friday, February 10 during Ski Runners time to decorate cookies with the students who are left back?

Dear Tireless RES Staff, It is so inspiring to watch our staff prepare our students for the challenges of a global world.  I will be meeting with the rest of you this week to discuss your walkthroughs and celebrate the outstanding teaching that's going on!   KUDOS to STAFF Who "Stepped Up":   Heather and Lisa who helped run to parents' houses to notify them that there was no school on Monday due to power loss! Jenn, Leticia, and Amy H. for calling parents to let them know school was closed! Sherry for coming in Sat. to finish the State Census! Lisa for all her work getting the pumpkins carved! Dear Dedicated and Hardworking Staff, The rain was refreshing and its certainly cooled off!   Hope you had some down time for you! KUDOS to STAFF Who "Stepped Up":   Kathi for all her work organizing the swimming for Pre-K! Lisa K. for all her work with the Lavender Sachets & Pumpkins! All of you who helped out with the Leaf Peeper's Breakfast! Important Items to Know : Parent Conferences - I am so surprised that there is no "day" for conferences here at the SU. I am happy to support you in anyway to make sure your days are not too long. Please make a Google Doc and share it with me of when your conferences are planned AND if they happen. Please let me know if you want me to join you in any of them. I am happy to get a sub so you can come in "late" or I will be happy to do a tech lesson with your students so you can meet with parents during the late afternoon. Dear Dynamic Staff, I was at my UVM library class this weekend and am reminded how blessed I am to work in such a small but caring school.  The book that we're currently reading is called Best Schools by Thomas Armstrong, and it is what our school culture resonates naturally.  KUDOS to STAFF Who "Stepped Up":   Heather for "filling in the holes" whenever we're shorthanded!
