RES PRINCIPAL'S BLOG TO STAFF - Sun., Nov. 12, 2017

Dear Talented RES Staff,

It's hard to believe it's only seven days until Thanksgiving break!  It will be a busy seven days, so let's all remember to breathe, and be patient and kind to ourselves and each other!

KUDOS to STAFF Who "Stepped Up":
  • Heather for providing us such incredible meals like "Rice Bowls!"
  • Jared for always being positive and happy and willing to help!
  • Hilder for providing a beautiful tablecloth for the lunch table!
Important Items to Know:

Professional Behavior - Below are a few of the professional expectations that will be in the Staff Manual:
  • We are all juggling busy lives and school, and we all have only 24 hours a day.  We all feel overwhelmed from time to time.  What's vital to a professional reputation is how we react to stressful moments.  Emotional outbursts are not expected and are uncomfortable for everyone involved.
  • The teacher in charge of the class should be the "driver" of the learning and the class atmosphere.  Support personnel in the classroom should seek direction from the teacher as to what their role is.  Teachers should direct the paraprofessionals so that we maximize the support for students in your classroom.
Thanksgiving Feast - This is the RES school tradition expressing its gratitude to the community.  So this year it would be wonderful every class was involved somehow in the feast preparation.  I have met with Donna Stahl who has a team of cooks.  Heather will be here that morning to provide breakfast and snack, and assist as needed. I will be working with the students during tech time on decorations for our "Thankful Tree" that will be in the kitchen lobby area.

Thank you to those teachers who have volunteered your classes to help me with the cooking.  So far we have:  Gr. 1/2 who will be making the dessert with me; Kindergartners will be helping prepare the Green Bean Casserole.  Gr. 5/6 will be setting up  and decorating the tables.  Hopefully(?)  Gr. 3/4 will be able to bake bread with me if their schedule allows Thurs.  Since the feast is a busy, rushed, and noisy time, there will be no entertainment except for soft music playing on the speakers.  The focus is families and conversation, so we'll allow that to be the entertainment.
