Dear Considerate Staff,
KUDOS to STAFF Who "Stepped Up":  
  • Paitra for teaching a cooking class in the afterschool program.
  • Glen for helping out last Monday when we were shorthanded.  
  • Lisa and Amy for helping cover Web of Life so Ms. Collins doesn't miss the whole week! 
    Important Items to Know:

    Monday's In-service -  Here is the LINK to the agenda.  We will be at WUHS in the Auditorium and surrounding rooms until 11 AM.  Even though tomorrow's topics may be challenging, I am certain that Reading Elementary Staff are professionals and will be able to think outside the box with innovative, creative ideas.   Support staff do not need to attend.  

    Afternoon Session:  Building-based - 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

    *Lunch plans vary, please check with building administration for details


    Reading Elementary Staff - Mon., Oct. 8
    • 11:45 - 12:30 PM - MPR - Lunch provided by Cathy (homemade vegetable soup, salad, deviled eggs, corn muffins and dessert). Bring your own beverage, please.
    • 12:30 - 1:30 PM - Time in Classroom - Planning
    • 1:30 - 3 PM - Library - SBAC & STAR Data Review & Discussion


    Profile of a Graduate Community Forum - PLEASE consider attending this.  This is an important presentation about the shifts that are occurring in education and your input is important as we build our strategic plan.  Dinner is served from 5:30 - 6 PM, childcare is provided, and the presentation will be from 6 - 7:30 PM.  

    WCUD Board Meeting - The WCUD Board will be meeting here Mon., Oct. 15, 2018.  The building will be open for tours by the Board.  Teachers are encouraged to have their room open and ready for a tour.  Staff are welcome to attend but it is not required.  

    Blog Write-Ups - Please send me a short blurb for the blog outlining your units and anything that you might need for upcoming projects.  Thanks! 

    Collaboration Time - I have scheduled a few collaboration times for this Tuesday.  Please respect folks in their collaboration time by not interrupting them during their reserved time.  2:45 - 3:00 PM - Kathi Faulkner & Jen Mayo in Ms. Mayo's room.   2:45 - 3 PM - Pam B. & Cathy K. in Ms. B.'s room.   Patty will not have had planning time at Web of Life so this hour will be her planning time since she previously collaborated on her time with her 6th grade colleagues.

    Fire Prevention Presentation - The Reading Fire Dept. will be here Tues., Nov. 16, to make a presentation to classes.  PK-2 will be from 8 - 8:40 AM.  Gr. 3-6 will be from 8:45 - 9:15 AM.  The presentation will occur outside and in the multi-purpose room.  I will reschedule with your class if your library time is affected by this presentation.

                            Dear Tireless RES Staff, It is so inspiring to watch our staff prepare our students for the challenges of a global world.  I will be meeting with the rest of you this week to discuss your walkthroughs and celebrate the outstanding teaching that's going on!   KUDOS to STAFF Who "Stepped Up":   Heather and Lisa who helped run to parents' houses to notify them that there was no school on Monday due to power loss!                             Dear Dedicated and Hardworking Staff, The rain was refreshing and its certainly cooled off!   Hope you had some down time for you! KUDOS to STAFF Who "Stepped Up":   Kathi for all her work organizing the swimming for Pre-K! Lisa K. for all her work with the Lavender Sachets & Pumpkins! All of you who helped out with the Leaf Peeper's Breakfast! Important Items to Know : Parent Conferences - I am so surprised that there is no "day" for conferences here at the SU. I am happy to support you in anyway to make sure your days are not too long. Please make a Google Doc and share it with me of when your conferences are planned AND if they happen. Please let me know if you want me to join you in any of them. I am happy to get a sub so you can come in "late" or I will be happy to do a tech lesson with your students so you can meet with parents during the late afternoon.                             Dear Dynamic Staff, I was at my UVM library class this weekend and am reminded how blessed I am to work in such a small but caring school.  The book that we're currently reading is called Best Schools by Thomas Armstrong, and it is what our school culture resonates naturally.  KUDOS to STAFF Who "Stepped Up":   Heather for "filling in the holes" whenever we're shorthanded! Sherry for subbing in K when we were short a sub!   Pam S. for helping with lunch duties w/the skiers on Fridays!
